The Three Matching Parameters
1. Sensitivity → Power Requirement
| Speaker Sensitivity | Amp Power Needed (3m, 95dB) | TRASAM Amp |
|---|---|---|
| 92-95dB | 15-30W | Any model (massive headroom) |
| 88-91dB | 30-120W | A11PRO (185W) — optimal |
| 86-87dB | 120-250W | A12 PURE (250W) or A12PRO (220W) |
| <86dB | 200W+ | AA3PRO (220W) or A12 PURE (250W) |
2. Impedance Matching
- Amplifier rated 4Ω power must exceed speaker minimum impedance needs
- Modern speakers with 4Ω nominal impedance (Dynaudio, Sonus Faber) require strong 4Ω amplifier capability
- TRASAM A12 PURE delivers 380W×2 at 4Ω, A12PRO delivers 350W×2 at 4Ω — both exceptional for their price class
3. Damping Factor → Bass Control
Higher damping = tighter bass. Critical for: transmission line designs (PMC), large woofers (JBL 12-inch+), low-sensitivity monitors (ATC). All TRASAM amps ≥500 damping factor — exceeding industry average for the price class by 2-3×.
